Ekta Kapoor wins title war

When south-based Akshaya Productions tried to piggyback on Ekta Kapoor's success by registering its film title as Dirty Picture - Silk Sakath Hot Maga, Ekta was left with little option but to drag the Kannada producer to court.

The latest is the head honcho of Balaji Motion Pictures has won the case against Akshaya over the name 'Dirty Picture'.

The production house claims it alone has intellectual copyright over the title. Tanuj Garg, CEO, Balaji Motion Pictures confirmed the development and said, "The Hon'ble Court has passed an order restraining the Kannada producer, Akshaya Films, from using the name 'Dirty Picture' or any other name deceptively similar to the said name. The Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce has been instructed to cancel the registration of the name Dirty Picture - Silk Sakath Hot Maga. This is a landmark order wherein a film has been recognised by the Court as a brand."

Akshaya Productions believed it could get away with the addition of a tag line after the name 'Dirty Picture' but in vain.
